Guys, I need some advice

ayeshaahypaastaah:

How do I deal with a family which see’s ancestral casts as a really important thing?

How do I convince them that religion is more important? & how
Islam doesn’t support these things!

😔 Its gonna ruin my life if they carry on thinking like this

Make lots of Dua. I hope they’re somewhat religious (but ignorant), otherwise it may be more difficult. Try giving them some Dawah, for example some hadiths;

“If someone with whose piety and character you are satisfied with comes to you, marry to him. If you do not do so, there will be trials in the earth and a great deal of evil.” [At-Tirmidhi and others and it is hassan]
“The prophet, peace be upon him, said: “All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any “superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.” (Hafiz Ibn Hibban reported in al-Sahih 11 / 203 / 4862 , via his isnad, from Fadalah ibn Ubayd & Baihaqi. Also Narrated By: Abu Nadra In: Musnad ‘Abd Allah Ibn Al-Mubarak - #239 - Source).
Narrated by Abu Dharr Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said to him,You are not better than people with red or black skins unless you excel them in piety.”(Declared Sahih By Albani - Source).
“Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: The Prophet (SAW) said: O People! Your Lord is one and your father (Adam) is one. There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man or of a black man over a red man, except in piety in the sight of Allah.” (Ghayat Al-Maram, 313 - Declared Hasan By Sheikh Albani. Also In Al-Targhib Wa-Al-Tarhib, 2964 (difference in wording) - Declared Sahih By Albani - Source).
“The Prophet (saws) once reprimanded Abu Dharr for derisively calling Bilal, ‘son of a black woman’, then he went on to say, “Look! Surely you are not better than a brown man nor a black man except by fearing Allah more than them.” (Declared Sahih By Sheikh Albani - Source, here and Source, here and here).
“Narrated Uqbah Bin Aamir: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: These lineages of yours do not make you superior to anyone. You are all sons of Adam. No one has superiority over another except in piety and consciousness. It is sufficient shame for one to be foul, evil, or stingy.” (Declared Hasan By Sheikh Arna’oot In Musnad Ahmad, #17351 - Source & #17482 Source, & Sheikh Arna’oot’s Tahqeeq - Footnote 3 Of #17313 - Source. Also Declared Sahih By Sheikh Albani In: Sahih At-Targhib, #2962 - Source And Declared Sahih In Silsila As-Sahiha - Volume 3, #1038 - Source. Also Found In: At-Tabarani’s Mujam Al-Kabir, #14252 - Source).
“Narrated Ibn Jarir: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Allah will not inquire about your lineage on the Day of Resurrection. The most honorable in the sight of Allah is he who is most pious.” (Declared Sahih By Sheikh Albani In Ghayat Al-Maram, #311 - Source & In Silsila As-Sahiha - Volume 3, #1038 - Source).
‘Narrated Abu Huraira: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Thank God Who has removed from you the blemish of ignorance and its arrogance. O people, men are divided into classes: the pious and righteous, who are honourable in the sight of Allah, and the sinful and vicious, who are contemptible in the sight of Allah, whereas all men are the children of Adam and Adam had been created by Allah from clay.” (Sunan Al Kubra Lil-Baihaqi, #19412 - Declared Hasan (Good) - Source & Hasan By Sheikh Arna’oot In Musnad Ahmad, #8721 & Classed Sahih By Ahmad Shakir In Musnad Ahmad, 16/300. Also Found In Sunan At-Tirmidhi, 3270 - (Narrated by Abdullah Bin Umar) - Declared Sahih By Sheikh Albani & Sahih By Ibn Al-Arabi - Source).
“Abu Huraira said: Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: Indeed, Allah does not look to your appearance or your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds.” (Sahih Muslim, #2564).
“Abu Malik al-Ash’ari narrated Allah’s Messenger (SAW) who said: Among my people there are four characteristics belonging to pre-Islamic time of ignorance which they do not abandon: boasting of high rank, reviling other peoples’ genealogies, seeking rain by stars, and walling. He also said: If the wailing woman does not repent before she dies, she’ll be made to stand on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of pitch and a chemise of mange.” (Sahih Muslim, #934).
“Narated By Abu Huraira : A
black man or a black woman used to sweep the mosque and he or she died. The Prophet asked about her (or him). He was told that she (or he) had died. He said, “Why did you not inform me? Show me his grave (or her grave).” So he went to her (his) grave and offered her (his) funeral prayer.” (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 8, Number 448)

Cats, Maps, & Waffles: White converts, you ain't shit

fatumis:

mudaraa:

fatumis:

So this happened to me about a year ago.
It was a sisters gathering at a friends house, and present were a few new converts.
One of them was a white insta-Muslim. You know the kind, the day after she converts she goes super-saiyan, wears a abaya with the niqab and barely understands the significance of it all.
Anyways, back to the gathering. it’s after dinner and we are all hanging out in the living room and we are talking about general stuff. Suddenly, I hear the cadaan girl say “You know, aboriginals are the worst! all they do is use up tax money and drink all day. They are worthless. I would know, my dad works with them.”
WHAAAAAT?!?
thankfully, I wasn’t the only one who heard her wack tripe and me and a couple of the girls called her out on her racist shit. unfortunately, this has been a continuos trend with white converts. They think that by converting they are suddenly racialised and can say whatever they want and get a pass because they are part of the ummah.

No.

You are still privileged as fuck white people, and putting on a Hijab doesn’t suddenly make you lose access to the knapsack of passes you’ve been carrying around all your life.

Why are you generalising? The things you just attributed are true in every complexion/race, you have people like that in every place you go, not just “white people”. Whether you see it or not, this post is full of jahiliyah, not to mention the language (which I’m if you used that in front of other Muslims, they wouldn’t appreciate it either).

If this is honestly how you feel after seeing every “white convert”, then you need to re-asses your self and most importantly, your imaan.

UGH.
I knew some wack person would try and call me out like this.
See, you cannot.
My lived experience is my own, and no, YOU CANNOT ATTRIBUTE THIS TO EVERY RACE because racism is institutionalized. Read up on your 101’s before trying to come at me.

also, stop trying to cop some “you wouldn’t do this in real life” bullshit. I have photos of myself and talk like this in real life to people who know that I’m a womanist who doesn’t stand for any kind of garbage, whether you are an ally or part of a community that I am in. Stop trying to police what I say or do because of my position as a Muslimah. I think I am doing good for the Ummah by calling attention to shit like this.

If you are threatened by my post, it’s probably because you feel for the person who was called out and not for the whole group of people who they said racist things about. You and others like you are not part of my Ummah. You can take your apologizing for-racist show somewhere else.

1. Thanks for calling me a wack.

2. Thanks also for saying I’m not apart of the Ummah, for simply giving naseeha to you to not generalise white reverts.

You found one white revert talk like that, and you basically brushed that upon every white revert out there. May Allah help you see the severe problem with this.

3. You shouldn’t boast about “swearing” in real life. Saying words like f*** in front of people is ugly speech that is considered haraam.

4. Before you are a “womanist” you’re a Muslim.

5. I wasn’t trying to police you. I was giving you naseeha that you can take or leave.

I saw someone out of ignorance attack Islam being color blind, and I believe I had to tell them that’s an attitude contrary to Islam or its Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). There’s not even a single, and I mean A SINGLE case of Muhammad ever saying; “blacks are this and that” or “whites are this and that”… He never ever, praised or demeaned anything based on its race.

6. Your experiences were based on a small number of people, it doesn’t mean all of them are like that. This is no different to an Islamophobe who says; “All Muslims are terrorists”, with you basically saying; “All white reverts think they’re “all that”“.

That’s all I have to say. I don’t want to argue, and thus if you reject or accept my naseeha is up to you. I just had to make it clear that no one has the right to generalise people base on their race.

He also said: If the wailing woman does not repent before she dies, she’ll be made to stand on the Day of Resurrection wearing a garment of pitch and a chemise of mange.”

(Sahih Muslim, #934).

Edward Wilmot Blyden, himself a black man and former slave, wrote in 1874:
.
“The eloquent Adzan or Call to Prayer, which to this day summons at the same hours millions of the human race to their devotions, was first uttered by a Negro, Bilal by name, whom Mohammed, in obedience to a dream, appointed the first Muezzin or Crier. And it has been remarked that even Alexander the Great is in Asia an unknown personage by the side of this honoured Negro.”

And finally, to end it -

(Mohammedanism and the Negro Race)

May Allah(swa) guide both Muslims and Non-Muslims who still harbour racial feelings or hatred against one another.

It is reported that Abu ‘Ubaydah b. Al-Jarrah – Allah be pleased with him – said: O people! Yes, I am a man from Quraysh, but there is not a white man, nor a black man amongst you who exceeds me in righteousness (taqwa) except that I wish I was in his skin.

Comment: Beautiful words to reflect Islam’s stance on Racism. Let me quote a wonderful hadith of the Prophet(saw);

"The Prophet (saws) once reprimanded Abu Dharr for derisively calling Bilal, ‘son of a black woman’, then he went on to say, "Look! Surely you are not better than a brown man nor a black man except by fearing Allah more than them." (Declared Sahih By Sheikh Albani - Source, here and Source, here and here)
